I want to thank the people that have sent Jeff an email, Get
Better Wishes, Hugs, etc....

He has received almost 100 so far and Jeff is really enjoying them
and it is helping him.

Here is the email from Mel about the progress on Jeff.

Many Thanks for all the emails with "Well Wishes",
Virtual Cards, Get Wells, Hugs, etc. ..... we have
already received almost 100.... I have told Jeff, and
when he's up to it will read many to him....keep those
Blessings coming....I'm sure he can feel them filling
his room.....and keeping him safe.

---------------- 2nd UPDATE Below -----------

I checked with his Nurses Station throughout the night
to insure he was not encountering anything unexpected.
After checking with the Nurses around 12pm EDT
that he was up, and able to talk without pain....I reached
his room phone, and had a fairly short conversation.

His MD has been in this morning, and seemed satisfied
with Jeff's progress (even though Jeff isn't has the 2 drains in place....and multiple IV's on one of those
roll-around tree thingees.....they have him on a liquid diet...
and insist he take short walks in the hall.....and take a
shower.

I discouraged our family members from visiting, or
calling him today.....he agreed with me on this decision
since he is still pretty fatiqued, and understrength from
all that went last week. He says he doesn't have the
strength for alot of activity or personal interaction yet.

He says that it doesn't seem the face swelling has
gone down much yet, but most of the pain, discomfort,
and trouble swallowing....coughing ,etc. ... has subsided.

He seemed much more himself during our brief
conversation, and it seemed like his sense of humor
was recovering a little as well.......and of course he
would much rather have spent his weekend elsewhere.

My sense is that he is on the mend.....and at least
my level of apprehension has greatly decreased.....
probably won't disappear until I can get him back
home......I miss the "Silly Bugger" It still appears we are looking at 2-3 days with
him on Antibiotics, drain tubes, and close observation.

As is usually the case......it is impossible to catch
up with his MD for some direct information...most
is coming by way of the Nursing Staff, and my
conversations with Jeff.

My last check with his Nurse before sending this
was Sunday 9 pm EDT. She indicated things were
still progressing slowly as expected, and that he is
mostly resting, and catching up on lost sleep. They
expect it will take a couple of days for the swelling
to go down, and he will have a sore mouth, and face from the drainage tubes even when I get him
back home.

I hope to be more directly in touch with Jeff
tomorrow if he has gained some of his strength
and stamina back.....otherwise it might be
Tuesday before we can skip picking the Nurses
brain.
