Yes. During 2009, I personally was summoned to court by a company forcing me to sign a photocopy of a document, after the company had admitted to losing the original. I had since voided the original, long story. So naturally I wasn't going to do any favors.

Upon walking into the courtroom, at my designated time, proceedings from the previous court were still in session.

Judge paused his proceeding a quick second, to ask, "Who is this that enter my courtroom?

I was defendant. Attorney/Plaintiff answered by stating: "I am counsel for the matter to obtain a signature on a lost document"

Judge barked back, "Ah, yes, I am sure they don't want to pay twice!"

Two seconds later there was a stir in the room. A court clerk walked right to us and said, "We are sorry for the delay, can we have you move to the adjacent court room?"

We did. Then I decided to sit in the galley, not cross into the well. Then another judge came out. He too walked into the galley, sat down and threw his leg over the arm of a chair he sat in, very casually.

He asked more pointedly, to me: "Are you here to defend against signing your name,?"

I said, "The other judge gets it."

He said, "forget that, we haven't started your hearing yet"

The rest of the story is, the court records room contained different variations of the order the judge had made in advance of the proceeding, that automatically found for the plaintiff without hearing a word from me. But after I was able to prove the plaintiff's company wasn't registered to do business in the state, meaning also, that no action can be initiated or maintained, the case should have been dismissed. But guess what? The clerks rescheduled to a week later. Then the same admitting judge from before called the hearing to order. The first thing he wanted to see was a document showing the non-registered party. Upon seeing that, he screamed at the plaintiff!!! "What in the hell are you doing, counselor!?" But guess what? He winked at the plaintiff, called a 1 week recess. Guest what?! During that week, plaintiff got his company registered. Then guess what!? Court FedEx overnight a letter reading, "Your case has been ajudicated, any hearing on the matter has been cancelled." The envelope contained a signed order.

What did I do? A few weeks later I went to the records room, requested the record. To my astonishment there were multiple variations that I had never seem before. Wow! The record admitted the truth too.

Long story.

Judge ordered the photocopy to be recorded as though it were the original. That is the judge's admission that nobody should be forced to pay twice.

I'm totally open to the vast commentary on all of this.
