Developments in Macedonia are result of the desire to influence the Government of Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski regarding his refusal to join the sanctions against Russia, stated on Wednesday Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, reports Russian News Agency TASS.

Lavrov believes that latest events in Macedonia are controlled from the outside.

According to him, there are efforts for accusing Gruevski's Government of not fulfilling obligations to the people, but behind all of that hides "the desire to put pressure on his refusal to join the sanctions against Russia and over his support for "South Stream" and determination for cooperation in the implementation of other alternatives for fuel transport, including the so-called "Turkish stream."

“It is very sad and dangerous to use the Albanian factor for that purpose. Many years ago there were serious objections and back then (in 2001) was signed the Ohrid Agreement, and now there are discussions that Macedonia should federalize more, there are even proposal to be divided - one part to be given to Albania, another to Bulgaria”, stressed Minister Lavrov in his speech to the Council of the Russian Federation.
