The Public Prosecution Office in Kosovo announced it has launched an investigation against the people arrested in Kumanovo incident, under the suspicion they were planning attacks on Kosovo's territory, reports online Pristine-based newspaper Express.

The investigation started after the raids conducted by the Kosovo police on May 15 in the homes of the attackers, the Prosecution's announcement says.

According to the Prosecution, the initial investigative actions were taken before the shoot-outs in Kumanovo, because of reasonable doubts that some individuals were planning to carry out criminal actions in Kosovo.

"The State Prosecution of the Republic of Kosovo, in relation to this case, after receiving a request along with evidence provided by the Kosovo police, has turned to the competent court with a demand to issue a search warrant. The suspects may be involved in the events that have taken place in Macedonia," the announcement reads.

The Kosovo Prosecution notes that the investigation was conducted on legal grounds, having into consideration the importance of keeping the public order and safety, as well the prevention of any crimes.

The announcement also points that the Prosecution Office cannot release other information in the interest of the investigation, but it guarantees the public that based on its competences and legal obligations it will take all necessary measures to prevent any illegal activities.
