In the above quote, who are "we"? Who are they? Who are those who had them in derision? Who are the 'them' that 'they' had in derision? What do you mean by "had them in derision"? (I think 'derision' may not be the correct word for your intended meaning, but even that is mysterious to me, so far.)

Not at all. If you can, try writing more declaratively, not so referentially. Your words are like a cloud; we need for them to be more like a trail, with signposts along the way. We understand that, in your mind, the things you are referring to are clear and visible. We need for you to make them also clear and visible in the words you are writing for us to read.
