When the OJ situation was a current topic, one thought that was going around was that OJ was being framed; that it involved drug bosses in some way, and that they had ordered Nicole Brown Simpson (and perhaps also Ron Goldman) killed to keep someone quiet and perhaps as a warning to others.

The ferocity of the attack on Brown might be supportive of that idea. While OJ had been physically abusive to her on multiple occasions, it's hard to picture him wielding a knife in such a way as to inflict this degree and kind of damage:

It's curious, too, that he was acquitted of all criminal charges and then found "liable" for the murders in a civil suit. Makes one wonder if there was a fix of some kind, going on behind the scenes.

Whatever - those cases and their extreme publicity turned OJ into "OJ the murderer" in the minds of most, and that meant there would be little influence by him on any topic.
