Hi, Folks -
Before his recent legal travails, Bill Cosby was generally respected as an 'elder' in the black community. His expressed views and those of his TV characters ("I Spy", "The Cosby Show") could be described as "conservative".
Guilty or not guilty of the things they were charged with, O.J. Simpson, Michael Jackson, and Bill Cosby were all brought low in the estimation of many of the populace. As a result, their voices were left ineffectual on any social issues. Is that "Just the way it goes," or was it "How someone wanted it to be" and the appearance of wrongdoings provided the leverage to make that happen?
We may never know. I think it's concerning that those folks were sidelined while Al Sharpton for example goes on and on.
