Album "Silence" by the local singer-songwriter Sara Renar was nominated for the European Independent Album of the Year by Impala selection, an association of independent publishers.

Association of Independent European publishers announced list of artists nominated for the Album of the Year, and the list of 25 artists or albums, in addition to some major names in the world music scene such as Radiohead and their release "A Moon Shaped Pool", are also bands Škrtice and Kolektiv.

This is the seventh time that the award is given and this time brings together 25 artists from 19 countries. The aim of the award is to point out the diversity and quality of independent labels and artists across Europe.

- The essence of this award is to draw attention to the most extraordinary album of the year. This year we have a great short list that includes both new artists, and those firmly enthroned. The jury will now decide when they thought was the best in 2016, said Executive Director IMPALA Music, Helen Smith.

In the race between the other are the legendary English band Radiohead, the Swedish progressive metal pioneers Meshuggah, as well as increasingly popular rapper Danny Brown as talks about the diversity of genres that are considered when selecting nominations. Previous winners of the award are Efterklang, Adele, The xx and Guadalupe Plata.

The voting process is in progress, and the winners will be announced later this month.
