The United States will from the Guantanamo prison at Cuba within the next 24 hours return to Saudi Arabia four detainees, said Wednesday official on the Fox News US television.

Four prisoners who will be transferred to Saudi Arabia are the first in the last wave of transfer of prisoners from Guantanamo to at least four other countries, Italy, Oman, Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates. It was announced that such transfers will go on until the president-elect Donald Trump does not assume office on January 20. The identities and nationalities of the first four detainees were not disclosed.

Wave of transfers of prisoners is the latest move by exiting President Barack Obama in an effort to reduce the number of prisoners at Guantanamo despite pressure from Donald Trump to stop such secondments. It is planned that after the latest transfers from Guantanamo there remains about 40 prisoners, and that will scrap Obama's old romise to close the US prison in Cuba.

Obama's administration last month notified Congress of its intention to implement the new transfers. It was about of 23 prisoners who were in the hearings assessed as safe for repatriation or accommodation in other countries, reported Reuters.

US President-elect Donald Trump reiterated on last Tuesday its opposition to the transfer of prisoners from the US military prison at Guantanamo to other countries because, he wrote on hes tweet: it is about "extremely dangerous people."

"There should not be be a new releases from Guantanamo. They are extremely dangerous people and they should not be allowed to leave to return to the battlefield," wrote Trump on Twitter.

On the presidential campaign he announced that he will be against the release of prisoners from Guantanamo and transferring them to other countries, saying that he is willing to keep the prison in Cuba in order to "fill it with the bad guys."

The White House has rejected Trump's remarks and announced that while Trump does not assume his duty it will continue transfers of prisoners from Guantanamo prison from military base in Cuba, which President George W. Bush opened to there to palce there terrorism suspects after the attacks 11th September 2001.

Barack Obama promised in the presidential campaign of 2008 to close Guantanamo, but failed to reach a compromise with Congress. When he assumed the presidency in January 2009 in that prison were 242 people, and today there still are 59 of them.
