"The final assembly of the Eurofighter, once regarded as a prestige project may be suspended in Germany at least until 2018". This is the rumor launched by the German daily Die Welt.

The main problems - the article states - is the lack of contracts and the complexity of the production process. Eurofighters are manufactured at four plants in Germany, Great Britain, Italy and Spain. Translated means - note from the German newspaper - that the production process is very expensive and somewhat complicated.

"It's like a huge puzzle: the wings are made in Spain and Italy. The fuselage in Germany. The components are then assembled in the final four facilities located in their respective countries for the production of operating models."

According to Die Welt, the final assembly of hunting may be suspended even in Spain. However, Italy and the United Kingdom will maintain open lines.

The Italian authorities have signed an agreement with Kuwait for the acquisition of 28 Eurofighter in 2018. The contract with Kuwait was defined as decisive for the fate of the Italian industrial group. The Italian participation in the European consortium now covers 36% of the shares. The UK, in turn, hopes to sign a contract for the supply of the aircraft in Saudi Arabia.

The Eurofighter consortium had placed their trust in India to acquire 50 fighter: negotiation then wrecked in favor of the French Rafale. Last year were delivered in only 41 Eurofighter world.

Merciless the final comment of the German newspaper: "Airbus builds more commercial aircraft in a month than it produces annually the Eurofighter consortium in four plants."
