Russia has announced that it has produced a "very effective" vaccine against Ebola, which will soon be tested in Guinea, said on Monday the Russian Minister of Health Veronika Skvortsova.

Russian Minister at a press conference, the day before the meeting with Margaret Chan, Chief Executive of the World Health Organization (WHO), said that this year in Guinea to begin the third phase of clinical trials of the vaccine.

"The first and second phase were carried out in Russia and the volunteers have shown that the vaccine is very effective," said the Russian minister.

Given these results, the vaccine has already been registered in Russia.

Responding to the request of AFP, the World Health Organization said it was "received information that the Russian regulatory authorities homologated by the Ebola vaccine."

Russian vaccine has two components, it is evident from the media presentation on Monday in Geneva. These components are taken one after another at intervals of 21 days.

"The vaccine is very safe," the minister said. Reported fewer side effects, including headache and a slight rise in body temperature, she said.
