I do technical support and with all of the CRAP that Microsoft has been pulling with the windows 10 updates, making peoples computers nonfunctional, automatically installing drivers for devices found on the local area network and not installing *specific* drivers and only generic drivers that do not give full functionality, it really ticks me off!

With the above noted, I have been installing either a Ubuntu or Linux Lite OS on computers my family members use. Its free and has more support than it did even just 2 years ago!

Ubuntu works quite nicely on a desktop that has an Intel Core 2 Duo CPU or newer!

With that being said, I have seen both sides of the fence, Microsoft and Apple...it's about time to change the flow of things. Keep the hardware you currently have, save all of your documents, music, pictures, files, etc. to an external hard drive and install a *nix flavor on your PC!

Also, there is a piece of software called WINE that helps you run windows programs on your *nix flavored PC:
