this graphic shows the basic concept of what a viewer in new york city would see compared to what a viewer in patagonia, south america, would see at the same time.
the nyc viewer would be facing south, looking up at an angle of about 45 degrees. the viewer in patagonia would be facing north, looking up at an angle of about 45 degrees, so the views that they would see would each be "upside down" compared to the other for the simple reason that their heads are 180 degrees opposed to each other.
if you don't get the picture yet, imagine if one viewer was standing on the north pole and the other on the south pole simultaneously when observing the moon and looking straight ahead at it, it is easy to understand that each is exactly upside down compared to the other.
