Russian Defense Ministry doubled the number of air strikes on terrorists in Syria, Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu reported to President Vladimir Putin.

"As part of the air operation were carried out massive air strikes against ISIL targets in Syria. The number of flights was increased twice, allowing to deliver powerful precision strikes against targets ISIL to the full depth in Syria ", - the minister said.

"Russian aircraft conducted 127 sorties on 266 terrorist targets in Syria, and destroyed 140 objects," - said Shoigu, reports Tass.

"The strategic missile carriers Tu-22M3, Tu-160 and Tu-95MS bombers attacked positions of the IS in Syria, launched 34 cruise missiles at militants targets in Aleppo and Idlib province" - the minister said.

The Defense Ministry reported that attacks on targets in Syria, of the IS were involved 25 long-range aircraft, eight Su-34, and four Su-27.

The ministry noted that all Tu-160 and Tu-95 after attacking the IS returned to the base, and Tu-22M3 continue to "work".

It was reported earlier that Russia bombed targets in Syria cruise missiles from a submarine, as well as strategic bombers.

On Tuesday, Russian President Vladimir Putin at a meeting related to the results of investigation of the causes of the destruction of the Russian aircraft in the Sinai, said that the strikes of the Military Air Space Forces of Russia on terrorists in Syria should not only be continued but also strengthened.

On september 30 planes of the Aerospace forces of Russia, at the request of Syrian President Bashar Assad, began to conduct air operations with pinpoint strikes on the positions of the IS.
