(I wonder if that's as true as it seems. For example, tabulating Washington's wealth as including slaves is not the same as saying those slaves gave him great wealth through their labors. Slaves would also be a cost. They had to be housed, clothed, fed, etc., in ways that supported their value as laborers.

I think we're mistaken to imagine we truly understand how things were, that far in the past. What we think we know about it comes largely from writings and movies focused on the mistreatment of enslaved individuals by somewhat evil owners. But is that the true representation of how things were? It seems clear there was a dawning consciousness that slavery was not the right idea and that the time for its end was fast approaching.

The best idea so far, I think, is exemplified by Candace Owens, who mentioned during her Candace Owens Show with Sheriff David Clarke that she has -forgiven- all that happened in the past so she could focus on the future - an idea similar to something you wrote me once, M. :)

The truth is was both earned and stolen.

Only those who are blind or dishonest could ignore either.

Americans have created wealth in many ways but we should at least be honest about the fact that Slavery GREATLY enhanced wealth. After all most of George Washington's wealth was in his ownership of slaves.

This article is just as dishonest as the demoncrats.
