IF ... a socialist or Communist system were EVER to be run by honest and incorruptible people ... it JUST may have a chance of actually working. But the opportunity for taking advantage is just too great and there are still problems with the whole idea. I mean a Star Trek socialist world is a sort of utopia that one might just aspire to but again we are looking at a centralized system where lots of things can go wrong if just ONE bad apple gets into the right/wrong position of power ... ???
The hilarious thing about the whole Star Trek thing is that we have an apparently totally benign socialist society being run by a centralized militaristic STAR FLEET with supposed ships of exploration, armed with weapons of war ... phasers and photon torpedoes ... And that damned PRIME directive of NON Interference which James T. Kirk violated on several occasions along with a number of his successors in subsequent series ... and then there's the TEMPORAL prime directive that Janeway and others violated several times as well. Apparently ... it's ok for the socialist's to violate the rules when it suites their needs or situation but when others that are NOT socialist violate the rules then ... oh ma fear LORD !!! What have you done ... ???

Bottom line is that when socialist's break the rules it's perfectly fine ... but when anyone else does it ... whoa ... thta's a bad bad thing and they let you know ...

I am/was a huge Star Trek fan because it WAS PROGRESSIVE ... and at that time it was in vogue ... it WAS progressive and somewhat Liberal. And why not ? It was about humans going into the unknown of space and exploring the beyond ... and just look at what it has turned into ... just the opposite.
The old progressives have petrified into OLD BONES ...
How predictive was the old character of BONES Dr. McCoy ... the doc who was actually anti everything progressive ... hated the transporter and the replicators and on and on. He was my fave character on the show cuz he was the most HUMAN. He tolerated the progression of technology but kept his humanity in tact.

Then there was Spock, who was half Human/half Vulcan, who lost half of the picture BY choice ... decided to go ALL LEFT brain .. LOGIC and REASON ... no intuition, no gut feelng's to make judgements upon. Always relied on science and his scanners to tell him what was real. If it wasn't readily apparent according to science and logic is wasn't real. Poppycock I say ...

Then there's Kirk ... the Authoritarian ... the ultimate last word according to the centralized power of STAR FLEET ... who bounced back and forth between Spock's council and Bones council ... interesting how Roddenberry used that trio to get a certain message across. Was Gene in the know about certain things and tried to get a msg thru ??? Or was he just a CIA stooge getting THEIR msg thru ? I tend to think and/or intuit that Gene was a white hat trying to get a good msg thru but I could be wrong. I'd hate to think he was a black hat because he was, at heart, a good man ... he served as a police officer to keep the peace and kept his airline passengers safe as a competent pilot.

His dream was to write and if he was compromised that is sad but if he was given inside baseball then we got the better of the deal and Gene got to keep his integrity.

The same may go for the 2 gals that wrote the Matrix Trilogy which IMO told the truth about what MAY really be going on here. Did you know that the Wackowski Bothers are 2 ladies ???

And of course they are sisters ... I was taken aback when I discovered this relatively unknown fact
... until you do some research you would never know that the Matrix was written by two women ... unless of course that is a clever lie ?
