Non-judgement is _not_ the "become a doormat" picture you have in your mind.

The picture you have in your mind is indeed impossible, presently; and it would be stupid, presently, to try to live according to that picture.

You're trying to imagine what non-judgement would be like, and what conditions it would engender, while still inside the judgmental mind-space. You can't "grok" it from there - it's a different paradigm altogether.

The distinction you drew earlier about the scientific/religious mindset on the one hand versus the clear spiritual mindset on the other, is a close parallel to the distinction that's involved here. Generally, Science doesn't "believe" in anything it cannot measure. Likewise the mindset in which judgment is yet a central feature doesn't believe that non-judgment could possibly work or be practical, much less as _powerful_ as it actually proves to be.

The human mind is constructed in such a way that it really cannot entertain an absence - so when we speak of non-judgment, it's really judgment that the mind entertains - and it's impossible to toss out judgment while it remains "the object" in consciousness, that way.

For it to be dethroned from its central human position, it's necessary to _displace_ it with some other "object" for the mind to work with; some other "positive presence", rather than seeking to work with an absence of the thing.

The positive object formula that works for this purpose is:

"In all things, give thanks."

NOTE that this is not, "_For_ all things, give thanks," but, "_In_ all things."

The intent is to allow the 'cistern' of the subconscious to be filled with something fresh and new, till eventually thankfulness becomes "the first flush of feeling" that rises up from the subconscious - which won't happen, at first; the human habit of judgment is too well entrenched for that, and so the effort is necessarily a _conscious_ one at the start, becoming "second nature" only later.

As this is being undertaken, and especially after it becomes "second nature" and thankfulness is the first flush of feeling, I promise you: the world itself changes accordingly.

It changes because it is we who have been making it, all along; and as we change what it is we are expressing into that world, what returns to us from out of the world changes also.

(This is easy to see, with a single example: Would the Hegelian Dialectic method of control be able to operate, if something other than "the spirit of judgment" were present in human beings? If there is nothing in us for that method to strike and cause to resonate, where would its power go?)
