Public humiliation is the strongest form of social control.

I found Duncan's letter quite manipulative. It begins with vague ego appeals then turns from suggestions to instructions. It then threatens your "credibility" if you do not "fall in line".

I am highly suspicious of this author and recommend that if Duncan is in a position to hurt you or your career that you begin a thorough investigation of this person and their publication immediately.

The letter reeks of control and vague threats. I notice your board has crashed as I prepare my response, and so am spooling in notepad awaiting a future time to paste onto your board.

Obviously something is amiss. My gut says Duncan's "contacts" were not pleased with your bringing his comments to us. With this new development I will suspect the inaccuracies in Duncan's letter were supplied such that the untrained eye would dismiss the note prematurely.

Now, to further lend credence to my suspicions, have you infact heard from this Euro contact or a close affiliate recently? I ask not that you divulge this information publically. However Duncan refers to this contact as "new" and if infact you have received new information from the contact then Duncan is implying to you that he is aware of this intelligence and so his threats are more real.
