_Very_ interesting. FWIW: The Mayan Calendar _ends_ in 2013. They recognize a Long Cycle of 26,000 years; and cycles of 20 days (solar energies cycle) and 13 days (galactice energies cycle), combined in the Sacred Mayan Tzolk'in (260 days). You reminded me of this when you talked about the importance of mid-points. The Tzolk'in cycle begins kind of quietly, builds to a climax in the middle, then rolls on to a quiet conclusion.

Also FWIW: I've just received an email, mentioning one Dr. Heribert Illig, who has a well developed theory that there's a 300-year period in our history that was, well, made up. :) Specifically he ways 614 to 911 AD didn't happen, and we're presently enjoying 1703 AD.

I think he's probably wrong about this and should go ask the Mayans, but it's an interesting idea. The purpose: to invent Emperor Charles the Great, so he could be the ancestor of Emperor Otto II -- something about a conspiracy with the Pope, it's said.
