SAFETY BULLETIN - WINTER DRIVING! Young Parents Needlessly Orphan Their Children

Slow down in bad winter driving conditions! Try to remember that it is better to get to your destination a bit late than not to get there at all! This may sound like an understatement, but recent traffic accident reports indicate that young parents are tragically dying in wrecks leaving behind infants or youngsters for others to raise.

Be sure to control your passengers if you are a driver and keep the music to the lowest roar so you are able to hear horn alerts from other drivers and emergency vehicle sirens and horns. Failure to do so could cost your life or the lives of your passengers.

The happy trip and visiting with others could all come to a crashing halt, folks, if you aren't careful, particularly in winter driving conditions. I have seen it so slick and dangerous out there that the wind literally pushed my vehicle off the road into the ditch. You don't have to commit driver error to experience such an accident, so if road conditions are very bad the best thing to do is don't drive anywhere at all if possible. Also, if you are very tired there can be a tendency to nod off behind the wheel, so try to get a designated driver to drive you if you are fatigued.
