I wasn't able to find my reference. Apparently there is no Restatement of the Law, 2d: Crimes. A Restatement of the Law, 2d: Torts exists, and I've just now searched through volume one and the index in the last volume, the number of which I did not note, for anything to do with privileges involving the carry or use of weapons. I didn't find what I was looking for, although I do think the Torts volume is what I had in mind when I made my remarks, above.

For U.S. readers, I highly recommend aforesaid volumes relating to things tortious (torts are civil wrongs that are not contracts - not bad tasting chips from which liability arises, heh, heh). Contained therein is a wealth of information and cited case law pertaining to defense of self, others, liabilities arising from invasions of personal interests in freedom from confinement, emotional distress, discipline of children, etc., etc.

First published in the 1920's, the second edition appeared in about 1965. It is not entirely current, therefore, but is useful in determining settled principles (sp?) of law, and also points of possible contention.

As to my previous assertions, I'm sure I read them somewhere while engaged in legal studies in the late 'eighties. Perhaps someone who is a better scholar than myself will be able to provide a reference. If not, please disregard my unsupported remarks.
