This business of the
: elitists, living behind the protection of pistols, telling
: the common folk yuou must not have firearms smacks of
: totalitarianism. It was clearly the intent of the Founding
: Fathers that every American be armed. That's why the
: ancient Anglo-Saxon right to keep and bear arms was
: included in the Bill of Rights. And the amendment states
: "right of the people" not rightof the states or
: right of the militias. All honest scholars agree that in
: every instance the Bill of Rights uses the word

: "people," it is referring to individual rights.

Actually, at English Common Law, only persons of rank were permitted to own and carry weapons of offense and defense. That's probably as true today in U.K. as it ever was.

That's why the Bill of Rights includes the right of the people to form militias and to bear arms- because the revolutionist founders of the U.S. and the framers of it's Constitution remembered, because they'd lived under it for most of their lives IN AMERICA, the Common Law of England.
