I have been waiting for this -- in 1996 one of my sources told me that LA was going to secede from California and become the first City-State. He said that there were only a few ways that LA could go -- one is being completely destroyed and be replaced by a park.

The other is to completely change it's shape and become a state not a city. It is already a multi national country -- worse than the Balkans -- the only thing that can really keep it in line is to have the kind of authority that a state has.

If they don't do something soon -- Mexico will take it.

My source said that once it becomes a City State it will be the example for a multi national world city where people are no longer citizens of a country but they are citizens of the world.

He said that it could happen in a very positive way where everyone retained their sovereignty -- but he also said that he doubted if that would be what happened -- he felt it would be more on the order of soylent green.
