In 1913 San Pedro voted away its right to govern itself in exchange for "harbor improvements." Warehouse #1 was subsequently built.

The Los Angeles Harbor Department is the only profitable department in the City.

San Pedro is to Los Angeles what Ostia was to Rome. On a political map see the long arm of L.A. stretching down the Harbor Freeway to Wilmington and San Pedro.

Los Angeles, about a decade ago, relocated its mentally ill medicated people to the Harbor View House and other halfway houses in town. San Pedro now swarms with pan-handlers on Medicaid.

There is no longer any industry in Pedro. The fishing fleet has about had it. There are some quaint tourist shops on Sixth street. We used to have a beautiful historic district that was bulldozed for that eyesore hotel downtown.

As for the many lovely mission-revival style structures that have been bulldozed to provide space for characterless condos and section 8 apartments.

San Pedro has become L.A.'s beer bong - an open funnel attached to a tube leading to the mouth of the Los Angeles City Council.

That's my rant for today - Bulldoze L.A. and replace it with a park for the residents of the Harbor area, have San Pedrans overrun and subdue the governing elements of Los Angeles, or some other scenario that politically frees the residents of San Pedro & Wilmington from the oppression of Los Angeles.
