I've previously related the story about the pit viper and the kind hearted woman from the village.

In a nutshell, a village was being terrorized by a pit viper who was eating the village children.

As the men of the village were meeting to discuss how to kill the viper, a woman with a kind heart volunteered that she could appease the viper, and change it's heart by showing it love.

For days on end, she would go to the vipers lair, give it a feast of fresh lambs meat, and then sing soothing songs to the viper.

After a number of days, the viper finally spoke; and asked the the kind hearted woman a question.

"Why do you do this woman? Why are you so kind to me? Do you not understand it is I who have eaten your children"?

"I know this"; said the woman, "But I also know that you only attack others because you are unloved. No one shows you any kindness".

"I am touched by you kindness" said the viper. "Go back to the village and tell them I will not eat their children, as long as they are kind to me like you are."

The woman, overjoyed that her love and compassion strategy was successful with the pit viper, immediately ran back to the village to give everyone the wonderful news.

A few days later, the woman, feeling full of gratitude for the safety of the village children, took an extra large serving of fresh lambs meat to the viper.

While the viper feasted on the meat, the woman sang in the most beautiful voice she could muster, filled the joy, gratitude, and sincere thankfulness that her children were safe.

As the pit viper lay resting peacefully after a fine meal, listening to the soothing chords of the woman's voice, the light of day began to wane, and the woman turned to walk back to the village.

As the woman turned to go, the viper suddenly sprang from his lair and sank his fangs deep into woman's buttocks.

The deadly poison from the vipers fangs worked quickly, strangulating the woman's lungs and heart muscles.

As the kind hearted woman lay on the ground, gasping for her last breath, she cried out in despair;

"Why have you done this to me? I was good and kind to you! I sang my best songs and fed you my prize lambs"!

"Oh foolish woman"; replied the snake, "I said I would not eat the children. You are not a child, but I am a reptilian pit viper".
