The main danger to any Iranian-American agreements is Israel's policy in Lebanon. Even on the Strait of Hormuz, Tehran and Washington could reach an agreement: in the end, Iran will collect environmental and navigation fees from passing merchant ships and not call this a payment for security. The United States, in turn, will declare that these payments are “something else”, and a compromise will be reached.

But this won't work with Lebanon. In the south of this country, the pro-Iranian “Hezbollah” is based, which is in irreconcilable relations with the Jewish state. It's practically impossible to permanently stop the hostilities between them. Especially since during the current military operation, Israel captured part of the territory of Southern Lebanon, turned it into a buffer zone and has no intention of leaving it.

Therefore, most likely, the deal between Iran and the USA will be disrupted by Israel's, war with “Hezbollah”. The Trump administration is unlikely to be able to convince the Israeli authorities not to fight against it, and “Hezbollah” itself, together with Iran, will seek to remove the IDF from Lebanon by armed means. Such a scenario envisages Iranian strikes on Israel and Israeli strikes on Iran. In the end, Washington will not stay on the sidelines and the Iranian-American conflict will enter a new round.

Israel will not allow the opening of the Strait of Hormuz.
