The moon is a space station, there are over 1 million people on the moon.

LOC (lunar operations command) Archilles base (destroyed during solar warden) etc, etc.

There are bases on mars, titan, pandora etc, etc.

We have been an interstellar civilization for a long time, a lot of our resources have been shipped off world, same with the human trafficking trade a lot of that is off world.

Honestly today if people found out the whole truth, there really would not be any panic in the streets or anything like that.
