Let’s walk through the key scriptures.
God No Longer Dwells in Man-Made Temples
After Christ’s resurrection, the Bible teaches that God does not dwell in temples made with human hands.
Acts 17:24 (KJV)
“God that made the world and all things therein… dwelleth not in temples made with hands.”
This statement by Paul the Apostle directly contradicts the idea that building physical temples prepares the world for Christ’s return.
If God no longer dwells in man-made temples, then multiplying temples cannot be the mechanism that prepares the earth.
Believers Are Now the Temple
The New Testament says the true temple is the believer, not a building.
1 Corinthians 3:16 (KJV)
“Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?”
1 Corinthians 6:19 (KJV)
“Your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you…”
This is one of the most important doctrinal changes after Jesus Christ.
The presence of God moved from buildings to people.
The Early Church Did Not Build Temples
The apostles never taught Christians to build temples.
They met in:
homes
public areas
synagogues
simple gathering places
There is no command anywhere in the New Testament to construct temples.
The church itself is described as the temple.
Ephesians 2:19–21 (KJV)
“Ye… are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone; In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord.”
Notice:
The people form the temple — not buildings.
Jesus Predicted the Destruction of the Temple
When speaking about the last days, Jesus did not talk about building more temples.
Instead, He said the temple would be destroyed.
Matthew 24:2 (KJV)
“There shall not be left here one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down.”
This was fulfilled in Siege of Jerusalem.
This moment symbolized the end of the old temple system.
The True Preparation for Christ’s Return
The Bible teaches the world prepares for Christ’s return by:
Preaching the Gospel
Matthew 24:14 (KJV)
“This gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world… and then shall the end come.”
Repentance
Acts 3:19 (KJV)
“Repent ye therefore, and be converted.”
Faith in Christ
Ephesians 2:8–9 (KJV)
“For by grace are ye saved through faith… not of works.”
Notice:
The preparation is spiritual, not architectural.
The Only Future Temple in Prophecy
The Bible does mention a temple in the last days — but it is not a positive sign.
It is connected with the Antichrist.
2 Thessalonians 2:3–4 (KJV)
“That man of sin… sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.”
This warning was written by Paul the Apostle. This temple will be built by the Jewish people upon the “Temple Mount” in Israel for the purpose of continuing animal sacrifices. The antichrist will enter this temple 3.5 years into the Tribulation period and declare himself to be “god,” and demand worship. This is the only temple that is discussed in the bible regarding the end times.
Conclusion
Using the KJV Bible alone, the doctrine that:
“Building temples prepares the earth for the Savior’s return” does not appear in scripture.
Instead, the Bible teaches:
God does not dwell in temples made with hands (Acts 17:24)
Believers themselves are the temple (1 Cor. 3:16)
The gospel — not buildings — prepares the world for Christ’s return (Matt. 24:14)
The preparation for the return of Jesus Christ is repentance, faith, and the preaching of the gospel, not the construction of religious structures.
But what about the “NEW GOSPEL” revealed by Joseph Smigh that teaches about temples? Can there be NEW DOCTRINE in the gospel of Jesus Christ. Let’s return to the scriptures for the answer:
The King James Version (KJV) teaches that no one, not even an angel, has authority to bring a different gospel than what was already given. The clearest scripture is in Epistle to the Galatians.
Galatians 1:8–9 (KJV)
“But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.
As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.”
What this means
Paul is teaching several very strong principles:
The gospel was already delivered.
The message of salvation through Jesus Christ had already been preached.
No new or different gospel can replace it.
If someone teaches something different from the original gospel, it is false.
Even supernatural messengers are not exempt.
Paul specifically says “even an angel from heaven.” That means miracles or angelic claims do not validate new doctrine.
The warning is repeated for emphasis.
Paul says it twice, showing how serious it is.
According to the KJV Bible:
The gospel of Jesus Christ is complete.
No prophet, teacher, church, or angel can bring a different gospel.
Believers are commanded to test all teachings against the original gospel.
