Why religious right support Israel

A huge part in the blatant bias of America for Israel come from the many tens of millions of Evangelical Christians. Those who relies on the Scofield Bible believe that "Bless Israel and you will be Blessed". The rest of Evangelical people have belief that is similar but milder.

One time I ask my lunch buddy why he is so supportive of Israel even though Israel is so violent. He said that his pastor said that supporting Israel is important for everyone's salvation.

Years of observing the religious right, watching Fox news, and perusing conservative web sites, one can generalize that these people live in fear, materialism, greed, and selfishness. To overcome these shortcomings, there is a deep craving for salvation and "eternal life". When the pastor tells them that salvation depends on support of Israel, then they will fervently do their duty.

These kind of thinking is the opposite of Eastern philosophy. Buddha enunciate that suffering results from craving. Craving for this and craving for that. The religious right of America approaches life in the exact opposite direction. The deep craving for "eternal life" is so intense that such craving is much worse than craving for material things and money. The more intense the craving the more intense the suffering. Everybody knows that you cannot keep things and money when you die. But the Church say that you can have "eternal life" when you die. But you must accept Jesus and support the Church. To a Buddhist, this arrangement resembles a business arrangement.

So it is clear (at lease to me) that tens of millions in America intensely accept beliefs that are hypothetical, but such is their need for redemption, that their wishful thinking overcomes any rational thinking. Eastern philosophy says that such craving will create immense suffering and karma. History confirms the correctness of Eastern philosophy.
