A new comet discovered on January 13th 2026, "C/2026 A1 (MAPS)", is from the Kreutz sungrazer family and will either make a very close perihelion to the Sun or may even impact the Sun! Because of its unique characteristics, this new comet has the potential to become one of the "Great Comets" of history during late March and early April.
