I think I am about to lose my lunch. Ted Cruz is the Senator that Trump wants to replace Alito with? I didn't know Alito was retiring. I know it is only my opinion, but I think Cruz wouldn’t make a good scab on Alito’s ass. As I have said many times, it doesn’t take me very long to ‘read’ someone. I had Cruz pictured as a sleazebag and that is what he proved to be in 2016 when he was running for president along with several others. Apparently Ben Carson’s mother was ill and he put his campaigning on hold to go back home and be with her. After all, she was the reason he turned his life around from running with gangs and becoming a doctor. He did not drop out of the race at that time.

During caucus, I heard his followers telling people in Carson’s camps to come over to Cruz’s side because Carson was dropping out. I knew why Carson wasn’t in front of the cameras right then and overheard some of Cruz’s people laughing about taking advantage of the situation and wishing they could use the same tactic on others for Ted to ensure he would win. There is no doubt in my mind that they had Cruz’s okay to pull that stunt. I paid more attention to Cruz afterwards and I have to say, my gut had the same reaction every time I saw his face. He isn’t to be trusted. Of course, that would apply to most politicians, sadly.

AND, if I were running for an office, the last person’s endorsement I would want would be Trumps. Never have I been so disappointed in someone. I don’t doubt that Cruz was a good lawyer. That doesn’t necessarily require honesty in order to be effective. Does he really respect our Constitution or only when it serves his purpose?

People need to remember that this is a lifetime appointment. Only allowing removal for bad behavior. Who gets to decide what constitutes bad behavior? I could still kiss my Senator (Chuck Grassley)for delaying the appointment of Merrick Garland, that Obama was trying his best to install on the Supreme Court. I’m not sure that Kavanaugh was a lot better, seeing some of his decisions. But, watching Garland as Attorney General, there is no doubt in my mind what a disaster he would have been on the bench for his lifetime.

Ethics is up to the person. They either have it or they don’t. But, it is up to us to do our best to elect or appoint the best person for a job. Certainly one that is going to affect us for most of our lifetime. Will he, like John Kennedy, grow to the job, respect his position enough to do what is right for our nation? I hope so. Or will he be like Ruth Bader Ginesburg, who was the deciding vote in favor of Case not having to honor the agreement with their employees, who lost, health insurance for life and life insurance to the tune of $40,000 for many people, depending upon their seniority? Were any of them aware of her investments in FIAT, who owned Case? Conflict of interest, you think? Apparently not in her mind.

We’ll see if Cruz makes it in.
