The Middle East is entering a trajectory of all-out war, following the official announcement by the Iranian Mehr news agency, which reports that the Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) launched an attack on the American aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN-72) sailing in the Arabian Sea!

According to reports citing IRGC sources, the attack was carried out using four ballistic missiles launched from bases in southern Iran.
There is no confirmation yet as to whether the missiles found their target or whether they were intercepted by the state-of-the-art air defense systems of the Strike Group accompanying the Abraham Lincoln (Aegis Combat System).

This move by the IRGC is interpreted as a show of force and a clear warning to Washington, as targeting an aircraft carrier — even without a confirmed hit — is one of the most serious challenges recorded in recent decades in the region.

The US has not yet made any official announcement.

The "weapon" targeting American aircraft carriers, in addition to the DF-17, is the Khalij Fars (Persian Gulf), which is considered Iran's "carrier-killer".

Anti-Ship Ballistic Missile (ASBM). It is the naval version of the well-known Fateh-110.

Speed: Supersonic, reaching Mach 3 to Mach 4 (approximately 3,700 – 4,900 km/h). This speed makes interception extremely difficult, as the reaction time of the US Aegis systems is limited to a few seconds.

Range: 300 kilometers. This means Iran could hit the USS Abraham Lincoln while it is sailing in the Arabian Sea or the Gulf of Oman, launching from the shore.

Warhead: Carries a 650 kg explosive charge, capable of inflicting a devastating blow even on armored aircraft carrier decks.

Guidance System: It has an advanced electro-optical sensor in the head, which allows it to "lock" on the target ship during the terminal phase of the fall, avoiding electronic countermeasures.
