The advice he gave, was to work locally, City Councils, County Supervisors, School Boards, then State Reps. At first, when he said that, I was surprised. I had always focused on our federal government, figuring shit rolls downhill. You know who I mean. The folks who make, vote on and in some cases ignore our laws. But, recent events, in my area have highlighted the intelligence of that advice.
First, our bridge, connecting Iowa and Illinois was shut down for many months, reopened for money making events, then shut down again. What was taking so long? Since the bridge was built in the 1920’s, it is to be expected that it would require maintenance from time to time, but for that long? It has never been shut down before for such a long time. WTH? Imagine our surprise to see barriers or gates installed that control passage of the bridge from either side. Why?
For decades, the cost of using the bridge climbed from .25 then to .50 and finally a dollar for many years. You handed your money to the person who operated the swing span to allow river traffic through. They might have to make change, but then you went on your way. The only time any gates were used was to alert travelers that the bridge was going to open for, usually 15-20 minutes, allowing river traffic to move up or down river. So, why the change? What possible reason could the railroad have for this move? Control of the population?
The worst part is whatever brilliant person came up with this change, apparently didn’t think it all the way through. When you drive up to the gate, it is down, of course. You have already had to drive past the person who operates the swing span. They aren’t allowed to accept money anymore. You will have to tap your bank card to raise the gate, allowing you to continue off of the bridge. I can see all kinds of problems with this set-up. What if you drop your card? Or are overdrawn at the bank? You aren’t able to get out of your car and pick the card up. The bridge operator will not be able to come to your aide. There will be no way to use money if your card doesn’t work. It isn’t set up that way. There you will sit.
There will be a long line of cars behind you and possibly a long line of barges, which have the right of way. Worst scenario? What if there is an ambulance in that line up with a code in back? One ambulance driver I talked to said he would just ram the gate and go on. I said, that might work if you are the first in line. But, if not, you will sit. Can you imagine the lawsuits? I was just told by a guy I know that he tapped his bank card and nothing happened. Gate stayed down. He tapped it again and waited. Gate stayed down. The third time he tapped it worked and the gate went up. When he checked his bank account, he was charged for all three times.
I have a question for Warren Buffet, who owns the railroad and bridge. Don’t you have enough money yet? You aren’t about to box me in. Twenty miles in either direction, there are towns that have relatively new bridges, without railroad attachments. I will be happy to drive a few miles out of my way to avoid being controlled by the Elite. But, it’s a head’s up for others. I just learned that the bridge connecting Iowa and Illinois will be closed on the weekends. For what purpose? This is getting potentially deeper than can be justified. Friday noon to Monday noon the bridge will be closed? What about people who work on the other side of the river? Take food and a sleeping bag to work? This is getting alarming. Not that I have any overwhelming desire to go to Illinois.
In fact, I always wanted to put a sign on the Illinois side of the bridge that says, “Welcome to Illinois, where our governors make our license plates.” Two Republicans and two Democrats. Uni Party, ya think?
The plot thickens in our area. I was told recently that our fire chief and the guy who inspects rental properties, were discussing whether or not they could have the city legislate an ordinance giving them the ability for them to enter homes without a warrant, to determine if it was safe for firemen to enter in case of a fire. Have these idiots ever heard of the fourth amendment? What exactly are they looking for? How many guns someone owns? Food stockpiled? How many bedrooms you have in case they are needed to house the homeless or soldiers in time of martial law? There goes the third amendment. Think it can’t happen?
We all need to pay attention to the laws and ordinances the people in various offices try to jam down our throats. These people have apparently forgotten that they were voted into office by We The People. And, they can be voted out as well. But, unless you like the idea of living in 15 minute cities, owning nothing but being happy, pay attention. Having everything taken from you with no recourse, yes, pay attention. Thank you General Flynn.
