Since 1960, Africa has received over $2 trillion in aid, primarily from the US and Europe. Despite this significant support, I am curious why African countries do not appear to provide similar assistance to one another. In Western media, you often see charities scrambling to raise funds for Africa, yet comparable initiatives by African nations are less visible.
The term "aid" has become closely associated with Western countries. Helping those who are weak or in need is not a practice that many Africans are accustomed to. Whenever there is a famine, civil war, or other disasters in Africa and beyond, African nations often behave as if they are disconnected from the global community. They have become so used to receiving aid that they overlook a crucial aspect of humanity: the importance of giving aid. Helping not only other countries but also themselves is often neglected.
Take Sudan, for example; it is currently facing a severe crisis, yet the focus remains on assistance from European and American sources. People often express frustration, suggesting that if this situation were happening in Ukraine, the response would be swifter. But the question arises: who should respond more quickly? Why should you expect others to act faster on your problem? The notion of universal charity has not deeply permeated the Black African worldview. Until Africans begin to take responsibility for their own challenges and prioritise caring for one another, they have no right to complain about not receiving help from the West. Ukraine is white and in Europe. Europe is likely to prioritise its own interests first.
***********
In Europe, it really helps to have a more communal mindset (in the past) when you have super harsh environmental conditions, like the often brutal winters. I suppose geography has something to do with it, but I posted another video of many Africans having no concept of the future. . .or consequences. That's also a ghetto mentality. That's not a conducive way of thinking as far as community goes. A cultural problem that will not go away easily. Also it was NOT a problem with the African natives I've worked with in the past.
Some adapt, some don't. . .depending on environment and upbringing, I suppose.
