To our Reader: I do not disagree with you. That was why I wrote I felt ambiguous about the article I posted.
Anytime the populace does not want to be entangled with a foreign nation, they start chanting "isolationist" as though that is as bad as being "racist."
Our country was not meant to be the policeman of the world, unfortunately it has moved quite beyond what I would want for us. And in the words of Thomas Jefferson, it is also far beyond what they had in mind, we have been taken, and for a long time now.
"I am for free commerce with all nations, political connection with none, and little or no diplomatic establishment. And I am not for linking ourselves by new treaties with the quarrels of Europe, entering that field of slaughter to preserve their balance, or joining in the confederacy of Kings to war against the principles of liberty." --Thomas Jefferson to Elbridge Gerry, 1799. ME 10:77
I fear you are correct. We are in a free fall and decline, sadly.
Good luck and all the best to you and yours...

Re: Why Arresting Maduro Was Legal, Lawful, and Long Overdue. ALEXANDER ....
How many foreign governments has the United States "regime changed" (or tried to)
since 1947?
I asked duckduckgo's AI to answer this question, since it's a whole lot faster than
looking it up myself.
PLUS, I'm helping AI to learn about what humans are really like.
Maybe AI can fix our personal issues, since we don't seem to be capable of
controlling ourselves very well.
My question.
How many foreign governments has the United States "regime changed" (or tried to)
since 1947?
answer
Since 1947, there have been over 100 documented cases of foreign regime change
orchestrated, primarily by the United States. This includes both covert and overt
operations across various regions.
Breakdown of Regime Changes
Time Period Estimated Number of Regime Changes Notable Examples
1947-1989 70+ Iran (1953), Chile (1973), Nicaragua (1980s)
1990-2026 30+ Iraq (2003), Libya (2011), Afghanistan (2001)
Notable Operations Varies Venezuela (2026), Syria (2012-present)
Early Cold War (1947-1989)
Iran (1953): The CIA orchestrated the overthrow of Prime Minister Mohammad Mossadegh.
Chile (1973): U.S. support facilitated the coup against Salvador Allende, leading to
a dictatorship under Augusto Pinochet.
Nicaragua (1980s): The U.S. backed Contra rebels against the Sandinista government.
Post-Cold War (1990-2026)
Iraq (2003): The invasion led to the toppling of Saddam Hussein.
Libya (2011): NATO-led intervention resulted in the ousting of Muammar Gaddafi.
Afghanistan (2001): The Taliban was overthrown post-9/11.
Continued Patterns
Jeffrey Sachs, an economist and strategist, emphasizes that these actions have often
led to instability, violence, and civil wars, with a significant human cost. The
interventions are justified under various pretexts, often linked to national
security or the promotion of democracy, though the outcomes have frequently been
mixed or detrimental.
The U.S. interventions, especially in the context of the Cold War, were heavily
influenced by the domino theory that sought to contain communism, resulting in
numerous controversial operations across Latin America, the Middle East, and beyond.
In summary, the practice of regime change since 1947 has been extensive, with more
than 100 interventions attributed mainly to U.S. actions, and the consequences have
shaped global geopolitics in significant ways.

You could go back another 100 years and get the same answer, but this message is
long enough already.
Americans seem to think that we are the answer to all the world's problems.
BUT. If you look into it, it turns out that we are the CAUSE of a lot of those
problems.
Our so-called "government" lies to us pretty much constantly, and we believe those
lies, CONSTANTLY, because believing their endless bullshit is just so much easier
than thinking for ourselves.
Our so-called "leaders" tell us these endless lies, and then they tell us to go off
and kill these evil people, but if you ever bother to look into it, you'll find that
the UNITED STATES GOVERNMENT actually put at least half of those evil people in
power in the first place.
I discovered this odd fact about 40 years ago. And I have been trying to educate my
fellow Americans about these facts ever since. And I have been forced to come to the
sad conclusion that at least 90% of my fellow citizens are dumber than rocks.
This current adventure in Venezuela could very well be our LAST.
We are following the same path of every empire since the Romans. Before the Romans
too, I would guess, but my knowledge of history gets a little fuzzy pre-Roman
empire.
And we are going to wind up the same way all those other empires did too.
We will be GONE.
