Military Arrests Obama’s Sec. for Veterans Affairs & Vietnam Army Hero for Treason & Financial Crimes
December 7, 2025
The United States Army Criminal Investigation Division (CID) on Thursday arrested former Secretary of Veterans Affairs Eric Shinseki, who served under Barack Hussein Obama from January 21, 2009, to May 30, 2014, for embezzling over $300 million from the VA’s coffers during his tenure, Real Raw News has learned.
Shinseki, 83, is a retired US Army general who served two combat tours in the Vietnam War, during which he was awarded three Bronze Star medals and two Purple Hearts. He was the first Asian American four-star general and the first Asian American Secretary of Veterans Affairs. Prior to that, he earned a Master of Arts degree in English Literature from Duke University in 1974. He was also educated at the Armor Officer Advanced Course, the United States Army Command and General Staff College, and the National War College of National Defense University. In short, Shinseki had a storied and valiant military career—not an individual one would suspect of dipping his greedy fingers into the VA’s coffers, pocketing money that should have helped disabled vets. But Obama’s corruptive influence had engulfed his administration, and Shinseki was no exception.
According to CID sources, Shinseki began withdrawing VA funds in August 2012 and depositing them into numbered offshore accounts in the Cayman Islands. He started small, so to speak, pilfering $10,000 here and $30,000 there, amassing a tax-free nest egg. Astoundingly, the disappearing money went unnoticed, possibly because Shinseki himself doctored the books and was responsible for auditing the VA’s expenses. By February 2013, he had amassed $13 million in wealth. Had he quit then, he might not have been caught. But greed begets greed, and Shinseki, for reasons not entirely clear, sought a massive fortune. In May 2013, he upped his game, using the VA’s vault to write million-dollar checks payable to charitable-sounding non-profits he had created, such as “Washington Veterans’ Relief Fund, and “Dogs for Disabled Vets,” which he later dissolved after moving the money offshore. Why he took these extra steps is not clear. Over 13 months, Shinseki had formed dozens of LLCs and 501(c)(3)s, depositing and withdrawing almost $300 million.
On November 3, 2025, a now-infirmed retired Army lieutenant colonel and old friend of Sheseki’s made a deathbed confession upon being told he had only months left to live. He confessed to his son, also an Army veteran, that his former commanding officer, Shinseki, had, in early 2014, admitted to misappropriating VA funds as the two men consumed copious amounts of alcohol at Shinseki’s home.
“According to the son, and we’re not sharing his or his father’s name, his father regrets not coming forward back then but didn’t have proof, I mean, just the words of his drinking buddy. But I guess the lt. col., he’s got terminal cancer, thought he might not get through the pearly gates if the story was true and he didn’t say something. The son came to us instead of the DOJ because he didn’t want to see his father’s name dragged through the mud. We consulted POTUS, Secretary Hegseth, and the DOJ, and got permission to investigate the case,” our source said.
A monthlong investigation, which included scrutinizing Obama-era VA financials and Shseki’s past, confirmed the unthinkable: A decorated and heroic soldier morphed into a kleptocrat. Unlike other Deep State thieves, however, Shinseki lived neither a flamboyant nor an opulent lifestyle. He had driven a clunker, had a modest home, and had shopped at Walmart and Target, even while earning $220K annually as a secretary of veterans affairs and collecting a $150K/year military pension. In fact, he hadn’t touched the stolen treasure trove. It had simply sat, earning interest. CID’s investigation revealed that Shinseki had no will, so it’s unknown where that money might’ve wound up one day.
On Thursday, CID officers holding a military arrest warrant arrived at Shinseki’s home in Honolulu. His home health nurse, a Hispanic woman who spoke little English, answered the door and advised the agents to return later because Shinseki was sleeping. They brushed her aside and confronted Shinseki in his bedroom, informing him that he was being placed under arrest for treason, theft, money laundering, and bank fraud. He was handcuffed and taken to Fort Shafter, our source said.
“He says he’s innocent; someone must’ve stolen his identity and forged his signature to move the money around,” our source said. “But we like him for this; he looks guilty as fuck. He’s in our custody and, no matter what his age, he’ll face a tribunal for this.”
