An informative new Security Council (SC) report circulating in the Kremlin today first noting top Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov revealed President Putin will meet with United States Special Envoy Steve Witcoff tomorrow afternoon, says this revelation joined the news: “Russian armed forces have liberated at least 275 settlements in the special military operation zone since the beginning of 2025”.

Yesterday, this report notes, Special Envoy Witcoff, Jared Kushner, the son-in-law of President Donald Trump, and Secretary of State Marco Rubio met for talks with Ukrainian negotiators in Miami—President Trump told reporters after the talks that he is not seeking to set any deadlines for Russia regarding the settlement of the Ukrainian conflict, and warned about Ukraine: “The corruption situation going on is not helpful”—Secretary of State Rubio then revealed that security guarantees for Ukraine remained unresolved and declared: “We don’t just want to end the war, we also want to help Ukraine be safe forever so never again will they face another invasion...There’s more work to be done...This is delicate, it’s complicated, there are a lot of moving parts and obviously there’s another party involved here that’ll have to be a part of the equation”.

Elsewhere, a cast of businessmen close to the Trump administration have been looking to position themselves as new economic links between the U.S. and Russia.

The picture that emerges is a remarkable story of business leaders working outside the traditional lines of diplomacy to cement a peace agreement with business deals.
