In early October, Trump and his neocon mouthpiece Senator Lindsey Graham said that the United States does not rule out military bombing inside the country of Venezuela as part of efforts to fight narcotics trafficking, to bring the problem under control. When Trump was asked if such development was on the table, he answered "no".

The UN spokesman Stephane Dujarric said that the United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres believes that US attacks in the Caribbean contradict international law.
