"European politicians are now determining what constitutes the truth by celebrating the new European Media Freedom Act (EMFA), which allows for the arrest of journalists in the public interest.

The European Commission has introduced various draconian measures to promote media freedom, pluralism, and service mobility, including the European Media Freedom Act (EMFA) effective since 8 August 2025.

"The new law which many people view as a wolf in sheep’s clothing scarily states that “Member States should not take any of the following measures… to detain, punish, intercept or inspect media services providers… unless it is ‘justified in each particular case by the prevailing public interest.”

The recent legislation will incorporate surveillance measures for serious offenses, including terrorism and racism, and requires member states within the EU to collaborate in addressing misinformation. It also mandates creating national lists of media owners and their addresses.

European Parliament Vice President Sabine Veheyen called the act “a landmark for press freedom in the EU” and disturbingly noted its significance would be proven by actions rather than words...."
