A deep agitation is working its way up out of the collective unconscious. For people with poor impulse control that means more and more egregious examples of acting out in public. In many cases, especially among the more economically and socially privileged among us, that means the exposure of hidden sins... in a public venue... because these are also being agitated and brought to The Surface, and The Surface is the location of self-conscious awareness. It won’t matter to those with poor impulse control because they are already very public about it.

Think of the situation as being similar to fishing by dynamite. The fish represent hidden secrets that were formerly (as much as possible) kept in a private format. Then you (actually Mr. Apocalypse) toss a lit stick of dynamite into a lake and all those fish float to the surface. A lot of things that were once very private are suddenly very public. This is all just routine aspects of an apocalypse. Specific events take place at the different stages of apocalypse, and… in the latter… more intense phases… all kinds of items previously concealed are exposed to public view.

This sort of action can bring intense discomfort to those who thought everything was going to remain on The DL. Due to the fact that apocalypses do not appear very often, and grand apocalypses appear almost never, few people are ever prepared for that sort of thing, and the ones who are, needn’t have been concerned about it in the first place, and… they weren’t.
