The latest book by Peter Schweitzer, which he said was difficult to write. I found equally difficult to read. I slogged my way through it. Not because Schweitzer is a bad writer. But, because of the difficulty of following so many threads. So many eye opening examples of the areas of our society infiltrated by China, assisted by Americans who should know better. His first chapter, “The Rope” sets the reader straight on the intentions of the CCP.

“The world is undergoing great many changes unseen in a century, but time and momentum are on our side. This is where our force and vigor reside, and it is also where our determination and confidence reside.” President Xi Jinping 1-21.

“The capitalists will sell us the rope with which to hang them.” Vladimir Lenin

Greed has driven the selling of the rope to the CCP over the years. While many have put forward the idea that welcoming China into the brotherhood of nations would make them open up more, becoming, eventually, more democratic, only the opposite has happened. Did these people really believe their own hype or were they just looking for an excuse to fill their bank accounts with Beijing bucks? It is hard for me to believe that people smart enough to run a company or a university, for instance, could be obtuse enough to believe it. Nevertheless, it is their talking point when challenged. That is exactly what Beijing wants us to think.

These people, whether in Silicon Valley, Wall Street, Washington D.C. or any number of universities, while running down our government and politicians, who won’t play ball, are strangely silent on the CCP’s record of human rights abuses of their people. And, if China is becoming more open and democratic, explain their constant tightening of freedoms in their country. Facial Recognition? Social Credit Score? That doesn’t sound like ‘moving toward democracy to me.’ What are the leaders afraid of? Do they fear that any amount of freedom will give the people room to plan and execute a revolution? The tighter the screws are turned on the population, the harder it will be to resist the control they live under. As for the titans of Wall Street or Silicon Valley, already obscenely rich, their motto appears to be, ‘more is always better.’

Peter Schweitzer’s book, “Red Handed” delves into the meat of the elite in China’s hip pocket and why. It, surprisingly, is not all about the money. It seems that many CEO’s, University Administrators,
Wall Street giants and many of our politicians on both sides of the aisle, actually admire the totalitarian dictatorship, laughingly referred to as ‘The People’s Republic of China’. I wonder if Xi can say that with a straight face?

What exposed the lie that more inclusion would result in a softer regime?. I would say, even beyond the Tiananmen Square Massacre, was the promise of the CCP to leave the society of Hong Kong as it had been under British influence. There is no way to hide or white wash the reaction of the Chinese government on receiving Hong Kong back under their control. Whose bright idea was it to do that anyway? It is reminiscent of how the country of China became communist in the first place. We promised military aid to Chiang Kai-shek after WWII, when they were fighting the communist forces of Mao. We reneged on that promise and decided to believe that Mao would be a better leader? But I digress again.

Their invasion of Tibet, their brutal treatment of the Falun Gong, even the Chinese Christians, the operating on people, while completely conscious to sell their organs, have shown the world the true nature of the CCP leaders. What is the motive at the bottom of these actions? I believe they intend to become the new super power of the world. They think it is their time or their turn. That is exactly what will occur unless our elite can manage to de-cord themselves from the navel of the CCP along with the riches conferred on them from Beijing.

Rather than to quote from each chapter of Schweitzer’s book, I would encourage anyone who doesn’t want their children and grandchildren living under the jackboot of the Chinese to buy Peter’s book. And, don’t just read it. Study it. Then, buy copies for family, friends, and business associates. “Stop”, as Winston Churchill said, “Feeding the Crocodile in the hope that it will eat him last.”
