What is entrepreneurship?

Decades ago, back when I had the same attorney and accountant as Steven Jobs of Apple and Steve and I were buddies, I used to romanticize over these two definitions of “entrepreneur” that I had come across:

“Someone who’s willing to do whatever it takes for as long as it takes,” and “Someone who’s willing to risk it all to have it all.”

It wasn’t long before my being enamored with the idea of being an “entrepreneur” began to change and my relating to those two definitions changed. You see, I realized there was a common denominator bottom-line presumption in all of it, which was success was defined solely by the dollars one amasses.

No consideration at all as to who gets hurt or who gets helped in the process. So it was no longer cool.

Don’t get me wrong. Making a good living, and taking care of loved ones, is what life is about! But once people are so rich they couldn’t spend it in five generations and still they only live to make more and more money without any consideration about who is being helped or hurt, that is no longer cool at all!

Good people exist

Being empowered to save millions of people from disease, and to raise small money and massive money from the few good people who care about helping others in how we make our money, surviving and enduring the battlefield in ways few can ever understand while repeatedly turning down millions from people only in it for the money, and now being poised to not only raise massive money from very good people who happen to be rich but also make a real difference in the evolution of using wealth for good.

Man, the good people from my customer base and more recently also from RMN who have put in money to help me do good in the world! And how I’m now poised to open floodgates of cash from rich people!

Today I explained it in a text to a very long-time customer who wants to invest $10,000 “because of the beautiful work you’re doing” as she put it in a text to me today, even though it’s a stretch for her (she’ll probably wire the money today or tomorrow anyway, and I’ll be taking very good care of her). I wrote, “You wouldn’t believe how many times I’ve said ‘No, no, no!’ to massive money because I won’t work for those people and how I’ve held out and said these are the good people I am willing to work blood, sweat, and tears for and make a profit for.”

She’s a very good person. That’s who I’ll accept as investors. No exceptions; not even a consideration.

Not acquiescing to greed

In the normal financial world, entrepreneurs who want to do good in the world have to suck up to rich venture capital investors who are often referred to as “vulture capitalists” in order to get the funding they need. I’ve been the outlier. I’ve turned down so many, many millions. I absolutely refuse to supplicate to them.

I’ve raised money little by little from such amazingly good people, including some I met through RMN.

Those are the people I’ll do whatever it takes for, for as long as it takes, to do justice to them.

And yeah, man oh man, have I ever “risked it all” to have it all (have it all for me, the ones I love and have promised to take care of the rest of their lives, my investors, and the millions of people counting on us).

I mean like today alone, yes, two of the business bank accounts went in the red in the past 24-48 hours. If I don’t’ get $3,000 minimum in the bank wired or Zelle by the end of business today I’m defaulted on the rent on the production and shipping facility and the eviction phase begins tomorrow (which would result in out of business and unfixable). Until two days ago I didn’t have rent for tomorrow for the upcoming week at the “hotel” I’ve been living in for three years and there’s no eviction process because it’s a hotel so no time cushion whatsoever (tiny one-bedroom apartment, cheaper than any apartment I’d find in the area). Video streaming service (Vimeo) where all our marketing and fundraising videos are hosted is suspended tomorrow if there’s not enough money in that bank account. Worked until 4, 5, even 7 AM many nights the past few weeks.

And I’ve been through this many, many, many times!

And YET…

And YET the power guiding all this and empowering me to see this all succeed has, on the one hand, required of me the most unwavering faith and fortitude and unrelenting perseverance (and thank goodness for the decades of training and practice of Taoist energy and breathing exercises), and on the other hand it has somehow ensured that even if at the very last minute people showed up who helped!

And YET I’ve lined up and been organically seasoned through all this to bring in very rich people who not only want to help me save lives but have me lead the evolution of increasingly using wealth for good.

And that’s all right at my fingertips, just hinged on one more decent boost of cash. And in the past few days and weeks alone I’ve just happened to meet in person and online a handful of rich people and their fund managers who really resonate with me and are actively reviewing my information. And in the coming days I launch the first official revenue-generating support program for the rich which happens to also be the ideal, brilliant way to grow the audience and thereby raise massive money for the ionic silver.

Metaphors explain it

Today I had a metaphor come to mind on this selectivity of mine in who I’m willing to have as an investor and why I’ve turned down all the others who are just “normal” investor types only in it for the money.

I’m the opposite of the entrepreneur who is willing to beg the investment banking, venture capital, and Wall Street world for money and then be subservient to them. I even had a venture capital firm years ago when I was starting out tell me I was smarter than all the VCs and there was one man who would understand me (he then sent me to the VC who took Steven Jobs out of the garage and started Apple – which may have worked out but I told Steve I was only in tech to make a difference in holistic health; we then had a disagreement about which mattered more, tech or health, so I walked away from that world and spent ten years creating the ionic silver product that’s now poised to save millions from disease).

Actually, here are two metaphors that say it all.

Today I realized I’m like a person looking to adopt children. I assume someone looking to adopt children has to find a child they feel they will love and care about so much they’ll be there for them through thick and thin and be willing to do whatever it takes for as long as it takes to provide a good life for them. Children who they know they’ll be willing to risk it all for in order to provide it all for them.

That’s how I look at it with taking in investors. I only accept people who I’m willing to work for.

Then there’s the other metaphor. Actually, this is a direct statement in the form of art. It’s a line in a song that I’ve called my theme song all this time. It says it all for me when turning down shark investor types.

“And he can’t even run his own life. I’ll be damned if he’ll run mine!”

Where it’s heading

I have two very long-shot possibilities of customers who might each put in $10,000, and I need one of them to wire the money today to avoid a bad permanent blemish on the rent payment history, or the latest by tomorrow to keep the entire bottom from crumbling out and my sinking into the abyss of hell.

It will be okay, partly because of my pushing on so many fronts unrelentingly, including writing this post, partly because of the good people who keep showing up, and mainly because of the power of spirit. I only ever ask for two things: guidance on what to do, and resources to do what I’m guided to do.
