Trump Issues National Emergency Declaration Against Russia As Europe Aims “Trade Bazooka” At America

An informative new Security Council (SC) report circulating in the Kremlin today first noting President Putin warned at the Federal Security Service (FSB) board meeting yesterday: “We realize that not everyone is happy to see Russia-US contacts resume...A portion of Western elites are still committed to maintaining instability in the world, and these forces will try to disrupt or to compromise the newly resumed dialogue...We need to keep this in mind and leverage every possibility offered by diplomacy and special services to thwart such attempts”, says this warning was followed by Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova revealing: ”Russian and US officials held a lengthy expert-level meeting in Türkiye on Thursday to discuss resolving ongoing diplomatic disputes...It sought to explore pathways for resolving numerous irritants that persist in bilateral dialogue due to the groundwork laid by the destructive actions of previous US administrations”.

Following the lengthy expert-level meeting between Russian and American diplomats in Türkiye yesterday, this report notes, President Donald Trump issued a National Emergency Declaration to prolong sanctions on Russia, wherein he proclaimed: “The actions and policies addressed in these Executive Orders continue to pose an unusual and extraordinary threat to the national security and foreign policy of the United States...Therefore, I am continuing for 1 year the national emergency declared in Executive Order 13660”.

Prior to issuing his national emergency declaration against Russia, this report continues, President Trump declared: “The European Union was formed in order to screw the United States...That's the purpose of it, and they've done a good job of it”—a declaration followed by the news: “The Trump administration is moving at warp speed to announce new tariffs...Trump’s tariff onslaught is coming faster than his team can carry it out”—then it was revealed: “The European Union said on Thursday it was ready to deploy its strongest trade weapon against the U.S. after President Donald Trump threatened to impose sweeping tariffs and scorned the EU as having been created to “screw” America....“We have an Anti-Coercion Instrument, and we will have to use it”, Agriculture Commissioner Christophe Hansen said in Paris after meeting with his French counterpart Annie Genevard at the Salon de l’Agriculture farming exhibition...Designed following the first Trump administration from 2017 to 2021, the bloc's “trade bazooka” provides for broad retaliation in response to trade discrimination, such as quotas and tariffs or restrictions on foreign investment”.
