The Turkish Army has crossed the border into Syria

Due to the escalating situation in Syria, Iran has initiated a large-scale evacuation of its military commanders, personnel, civilians, and diplomatic staff. This decision reflects Iran's assessment that it cannot effectively provide advisory or operational support if the Syrian Army is unwilling to engage in sustained combat operations.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi, after Baghdad consultations, stated:

"Whoever denies the Zionist role in terrorist advances in Syria is blind or dishonest. Iran has always supported Syria and will continue to do so fully. The security of our neighbors is our security. Terrorists must be eliminated early to prevent their spread across the region." (Actions speak louder than words. Iran has sent orders to Iranians in Syria to leave the country. There doesn't appear to be any Iranian support, mainly because the Syrian forces were refusing to fight on all fronts. If they wouldn't defend Syria, why should the Iranians?)

"We could see the end of Assad's rule in Syria in the coming hours," a senior US official told Reuters.

Bloomberg, citing a Kremlin source, reported: "If the Syrian army continues abandoning its defensive positions, there is nothing we or Syria's allies can do to assist."
