Israel is "completely erasing" Palestinian families in the northern Gaza Strip using internationally banned weapons that cause victims “to vaporize,” officials say.

Citing doctors and residents of northern Gaza, Hamas said in a statement on Saturday that Israel’s military forces used weapons that caused “the evaporation of bodies.”

Their “horrific testimonies,” Hamas said, “strongly indicate” that the Tel Aviv regime is using “internationally prohibited weapons during the brutal extermination campaign that has been ongoing for 53 days in the northern Gaza Strip.”

The Palestinian resistance group also demanded an investigation by an international committee into the use of the prohibited weapons in northern Gaza.

Director General of Gaza’s Ministry of Health Munir Al-Bursh also confirmed that Israel is using weapons in northern Gaza that they “have never seen before.”

In an interview with Al Jazeera on Friday, Bursh said that Israel’s airstrikes reduced residential buildings to rubble and dust in northern Gaza and caused many victims to vaporize.

“We don’t hear about these massacres for days because no one can contact us.”

On Tuesday, Gaza health authorities said that Israel’s military has "completely erased about 1,410 families, numbering 5,444 people” in the Gaza Strip over the past year.

Back in August, the Palestinian Civil Defense said in a report that about 1,760 people “had completely vaporized with no remains left.”

The agency said that the regime uses internationally banned weapons that disintegrate bodies upon impact.

International organizations and leaders believe that Israel’s genocidal war, now in its second year, is a deliberate attempt to destroy the population of Gaza.

“Evaporation of bodies”: Hamas calls for international probe into Israeli use of banned weapons

Hamas has demanded the formation of an international committee to investigate the use of internationally prohibited weapons by the Israeli army in the northern Gaza Strip, which allegedly leads to the evaporation of bodies.

The Palestinian group said that the testimonies given by citizens and doctors in the northern Gaza Strip “strongly indicate that the terrorist occupation army is using internationally prohibited weapons during the brutal extermination campaign that has been ongoing for fifty-three days in the northern Gaza Strip”.

Last week, Dr. Munir Al-Bursh, Director General of the Ministry of Health, stated that Israel is using weapons in northern Gaza that they have never seen before. He described these weapons as causing people to vaporize.

Last August, the Civil Defense revealed that 1,760 Palestinians had completely vaporized with no remains left. They stated that Israel uses internationally banned weapons that disintegrate bodies upon impact.

Hamas said the siege of northern Gaza has so far led to the killing of nearly three thousand people and the injury of more than ten thousand, most of whom are children and women.

The Palestinian health ministry said on Saturday that the death toll in Gaza had reached at least 44,382. The ministry added that at least 105,142 Palestinians had also been injured in Israel’s military offensive on Gaza since 7 October 2023.
