2nd Assassination Attempt

President Trump was dealt a second assassination attempt on Sunday September 15. He made a last minute decision to play a game of golf on the course next door to his Mar-a-Lago residence, and during a Secret Service scan a rifle was seen poking out of the bushes. A shot was fired at the rifle location and Routh was seen scampering away. A neighbor took a quick photo of the car license plate and Routh was quickly arrested while trying to escape on the road. Was this an inside job?

A backpack and a semi-automatic rifle “that was described as an AK-47” in early reporting were recovered in the area of the shooting. A GoPro camera was also discovered, suggesting “this individual may have wanted to record himself in the first-person doing the shooting.”

58-year-old Ryan Wesley Routh was identified as the would-be assassin. Secret Service agents noticed the barrel of an AK-style rifle protruding from the bushes near where Trump was playing golf. An agent fired at the suspect, who then fled the scene in a black Nissan SUV, leaving behind the rifle, backpacks, a scope, and a GoPro camera. The suspect ran from the trees but was spotted by a witness who captured a photo of his black Nissan. The witness provided police with photos of the fleeing vehicle and its license plate number. Routh’s background is marred by significant legal troubles, with over 100 criminal charges filed against him in North Carolina, primarily in Guilford County. These charges include convictions for possessing a machine gun, carrying a concealed weapon, possession of stolen property, hit-and-run offenses, and possessing a weapon of mass destruction.
