Interesting article. I was suprised that one crucial possibil;ity of conciousness after death was left out. That is P.E.A. i.e. Postdeath Electrical Activity. I am unaware of the length of time it is sustained but I believe we are concious during that time albeit experiencing our leaving this mortal coil and joining with the eternal.

Thank you writing, my understanding is that the true point of physical death has yet to be determined as neurons deep inside the cerebral cortex continue to fire long after the heart has stopped and breathing ceased. In days of old and perhaps even now the placing of electrodes on the outer skin are not sensitive enough to measure this activity.

How many people have been pronounced dead when in fact they aren't?

Artificially induced comas have shown that to a certain extent the brain is able to rewire itself while in a state of suspended animation.

Makes you think doesn't it.
