There Are Some Serious Concerns about DeSantis’s Understanding of the First Amendment.

The First Amendment protected free speech for the individual and the press, as well as freedom of religion, and the right to assembly, and to petition the government for redress of grievances. The right to free speech was in the First Amendment for a reason. It was the ability to communicate freely, to share and express ideas, that led to revolution. This great tradition has been severely under attack the past three plus years.

I will state at this point that I have no use for Zionism or Antisemitism. This article is about the First Amendment and threats to it in the state of Florida, which I believe will have a detrimental impact elsewhere. There have been recent attacks on the First Amendment by the governor, which are extremely concerning.

Notably, on foreign soil, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis signed unconstitutional legislation, undermining the First Amendment.
