Found something in the above video that I first visited several years ago— and came across it again the other day.
Its latest posting is from 2020
from singer Bonnie Raitt. It’s a video called —Wonderland—
a reallly cool documentary
( in my opinion ) made in 1977  from a Dutch broadcasting company highlighting up and coming
rock ‘n’ roll artists in the L.A. scene of the late 1960s into the ‘70s.

(Along Wonderland Ave. in the Laurel Canyon of Los Angeles is where many musicians lived and where a military studio that operated for 22 years ‘Lookout Mountain Laboratory’ was located.

What I found in the video above is a short phrase coming from singer Jackson Browne as he was being interviewed away from home about his upbringing and rock ‘n’ roll history in Los Angeles California. 
It’s at the 35:38 min. pt. or so in the video where he says “you have the best of the kids off the farm...”
( and he says it with a snicker! )

When i heard this in the video for the very first time at least five years ago I didn’t know what he meant by that phrase “... off the farm” —-
Now, though, after catching most every Juan 0’Savin podcast / video
I totally know what it means !
As, Juan explained recently that ‘corn’ is a product from “the farm”
( c i a training ) !!

This is all to say yep,
author Dave McGowen who wrote
__Weird Scenes Inside the Canyon__
and died an early death at 55, was of course spot on pointing out that these musicians of the L.A. scene in the ‘60s were all offspring of military and intelligence personnel.

Jackson added proof to the pudding by what he said in his interview shown.
