Wil New Hampshire Candidate Bruce Fenton Flip the US Senate?

Where to spend the Sunday of Labor Day weekend? I decided to spend it at Bruce Fenton's open house in Durham. Since the University of New Hampshire is in Durham, quite a few students were there. The weather was perfect and the view of the Bay was gorgeous. Bruce has four happy, healthy children.

I was surprised to find, at Bruce's (Republican) campaign picnic, that besides the usual crowd of Republicans and Libertarians, there were -- am I allowed to utter the word? -- let's say Semobrats.

Moreover, the Semobrats were intelligent -- FREEDOM-LOVING -- and completely relaxed.

The preceding week, when I was campaigning elsewhere in the state, I was shocked at the amount of inter-Party hate that's out on the street. I got (metaphorically) punched in the stomach for saying something nice about Rand Paul!

That firmed up my wish to make my Congressional campaign as unity-minded as possible. This fighting -- over nothing -- has got to stop.

I'm told that Bruce Fenton once gave a 33-hour speech -- so he'll be OK for filibustering in the Senate. But at the September 4th party, he kept his remarks to 10 minutes. It went something like this:

"We need to get back to reality. It is the only way forward for humanity. Each person can best contribute by doing his thing. I want people to wear face masks if they want to wear face masks. I want them to be pro-life if they want to be pro-life. You'll never find everyone agreeing on everything, and that's good. I will support everyone's right to read, speak, and believe what he/she wants."

The future senator has an odd way of hoping to get there, though it's one I can more or less relate to. He is innocent and ignorant of politics. He said he hired, as campaign manager, a person equally innocent and ignorant, and instructed him to go down to Washington. "Go find each and every trick the politicians use -- so we can avoid using them."

At the historic Fenton farm (50 acres, mind you), I was impressed by meeting the elder Fenton, Bruce's Dad, and the junior Fenton, who at around age eleven, can do Bitcoin. Maye someday the kid will be President. Still, for now, New Hampshire needs to concentrate on the '22 midterms, September 13th and November 8th.

My idea of a trifecta would be Lily Tang Williams for House District 2, Mary Maxwell for House District 1, and Bruce Fenton for US Senate. (Sure, Tim Baxter, who will constitutionally turn 25 years old in the nick of time for the November election, is a good bet for my seat. But I've told Tim I need to get down there first, for a two-year term, and clean the place up for him.)

The Tango-Max-Fento ticket will inevitably cause some changes on The Hill. And it will be identifiably "Granite."

Now to the matter of theft, from Republican coffers. Today is not the day for me to research the workings of PAC's and Citizens United and all that. It's complicated and you can be sure, if it involves congressional legislation, it will be congress-selfish, right? So how it came to pass that Mitch McConnell can determine the spending of the Republican treasure, I don't really know.

But Bruce Fenton says he was advised not to say anything bad about McConnell, or Mitch would spend $5 million in negative ads on him. And so, Bruce says, he made it a point to say something bad about Mitch and thus the $5 million is being spent. (Hell, I don't even have $5 thousand to buy ads with.)

Recently, without knowing of the threat, I referred to Mitch McConnell, in print, as "creepy." Oh-oh, now I'm looking for my tires to be slashed....

Wait a minute: I don't have a car.
